SWEREF 99 (~WGS 84)

Enter latitude and longitude in one of the three supported formats.

Latitude Longitude

Type or paste a latitude and longitude in any row — decimal degrees, deg/min, or deg/min/sec. The other rows and every panel on the page update instantly. You can also click the map or use My Position to set the location.

SWEREF 99 and WGS 84 differ at the decimetre level. GPS receivers typically output WGS 84; SWEPOS differential corrections give SWEREF 99. Both use the GRS 80 ellipsoid (a = 6 378 137 m, 1/f = 298.257222101).

RT 90

Choose a projection zone and enter X/Y (7-digit integers in metres), or let the page fill them from a lat/long above. The panel turns red when the current position is outside the selected zone.

RT 90 was the Swedish national grid from the 1970s until SWEREF 99 replaced it. It uses Bessel’s ellipsoid 1841. Six local zones plus one national zone are available; the zone outline and its parameters appear on the map when you change the dropdown. Click the outline for details.

The conversion uses Lantmäteriet’s GRS 80 approximation, which absorbs the Bessel/GRS 80 difference into adjusted projection parameters.

SWEREF 99 TM, SWEREF 99 dd mm

Choose a projection and enter N/E (metres), or let the page compute them. N is typically 7 digits, E is 6. The panel turns red when the position is outside the selected zone.

SWEREF 99 TM covers all of Sweden in one zone (central meridian 15°E, scale 0.9996). Local zones (12) each have scale 1.0 and are named by their central meridian. The zone boundary shown on the map follows the actual municipality-based definition from Lantmäteriet.

Projection: Transverse Mercator (Gauss–Krüger). Click the zone outline on the map for full parameters.

Click anywhere on the map to set the position — all panels update instantly. Use My Position to centre the map on your device's GPS location. Switch between street and satellite views with the layer control (top right).

The outline shows the coverage of the currently selected RT 90 and SWEREF 99 zones. Click an outline for projection parameters; the dashed line marks the central meridian.

Bulk conversion
Use tab, semicolon, comma, or whitespace between the two coordinates. One point per line.

This page converts coordinates between WGS 84 / SWEREF 99 latitude-longitude, the RT 90 grid, and SWEREF 99 projected coordinates. All conversions run in the browser — nothing is sent to a server. Use the Bulk conversion panel below to convert many points at once (paste rows or load a CSV).
